Four race victory for Josh Brown at Three Sisters

The second round of this year’s BSSO Championship took place last weekend on 08/09 May at the Three Sisters race track in Wigan. Both days went really well especially for Josh who won all four races. Not only that he broke the lap record which he held from last year but that was on a 77cc, this time our Polini Evolution 3 70cc engine gave him the muscle he needed on the track. Meanwhile, Sam successfully completed and won the Young Guns class and is getting quicker every race. Apart from injuring his knee after an off on day one, Zack did really well too bearing in mind that this was only his fourth race meeting. He appears to be getting to grips with the set up of the bike and is bringing lap times down every lap and coming in mid-pack. We can see Zack in the top three within the next meeting or two.

Day 1:

Day 2: In race three Josh completed a lap of the circuit in 1:02.05 setting a new track record. Observe how he achieved this in lap four:

Bizarrely Josh’s quickest lap was identical (1:02.05) in the last race as was his top speed – 54.08mph which goes to show his consistency out there on the track:

The need for speed: Project Zip at Elvington

We feel the need, the need for speed! On Sunday 18 April we went to Elvington to take the Zips for some quarter mile testing before the next round of the BSSO series. The day went well with Pedstop riders Josh Brown and Sam Edwards getting some fast times up the drag strip. Josh’s machine is now equipped with the very latest Polini Evolution 3 engine. As you can imagine we couldn’t wait to find out how the new setup would perform. After a 15.34 second quarter mile run terminating at 79mph we feel even more confident now that Josh has the straight line speed he needs when he returns to the circuit next month. The results of young gun Sam’s full throttle action yielded times in the 16 second bracket with a 16.04 being his best time of the day – quicker than some of the riders of 172 and 180cc machines! Well done Sam.

Ever wondered what it looks heading down a drag strip at breakneck speed? Sit back and watch our latest video to find out…

BSSO Championship 2010. Round 1: Mallory Park

The first round of this year’s BSSO scooter racing championship took place at Mallory Park in Leicestershire on 5th April. We were there of course along with our race team: the Zen-like Josh Brown, young gun Sam Edwards and Zack Tingle, the latest talent to join the team (more about Zack later).

Thankfully the conditions were a little warmer (no frost!) this time at Mallory although it remained overcast and windy throughout the day. Our racing Zips performed well with Josh, Sam and Zack putting in a good effort on the track. Technical problems in the second race led to Josh pulling out early unfortunately, but in the first race he managed to complete 8 laps around the circuit finishing in second place despite the fact that he wasn’t on top form at this meeting due to sickness.

At this stage, we know the best is yet to come from our riders and our machines – watch this space! In the meantime sit back and watch the action unfold in our video as Josh battles for first place in Race 1 at Mallory Park:

BSSO Test Day at Mallory Park for Adrenalin Pedstop

Friday 5th March: Well the test day came and went without too many incidents although some politics seemed to be present at the track. All in all it went well with our Polini-engined Zip proving to be strong and reliable after some tweaks from Darryl Taylor and few more people that contributed (thanks).

Sam and Josh had some good laps and a couple of offs. Can we say a big thanks to Josh for crashing in such a way that our stickers didn’t even get grazed and a quick hello to all the Tingles out there.

Helmet and bike cameras were used to try and give you an idea of what it looks like onboard a 70cc Piaggio Zip on the race track. Watch the video:

Young Gun Sam Edwards to race for Adrenalin in 2010 BSSO series

Sam Edwards has been confirmed as the second member of our racing team in this year’s BSSO series. Sam will join 15 year old BSSO champion Josh Brown who will also be racing on our behalf at Mallory Park on April 5th.

Our sponsorship with Josh was confirmed late last year. The deal includes a 2009 Piaggio Zip SP with an engine supplied by the Polini factory – the very latest Evolution 3 70cc engine which is a step down in cc’s for Josh from last year’s bike but should make it more interesting for the older riders with larger capacity engines. Due to some dramatic changes in the BSSO rulings Josh won’t be allowed to compete in the same series as last year, instead he’ll be allowed to run in the new ‘Young Guns’ category. This is an additional class for 2010 aimed at bringing new riders into scooter racing with a clean stepping stone from other forms of the sport. This should be fantastic for new riders and could see some great talent come through as long as the class rules remain consistent.

At the tender age of 11, Sam Edwards will be the youngest rider and member of the BSSO this year. Sam has been racing since he was just five years old and will be making good use of a second 70cc engine again supplied by the Polini factory. Sam will also be running in the Young Guns class and should have a good year getting to grips with an automatic scooter as opposed to a geared Conti V3 race bike.

Both bikes will be looked after in some way by Darryl Taylor at 50cc Tuning in Doncaster who has been following the progress of both riders since the start of their racing careers.
